Sludge Geotextile Dewatering Tubes

Geotextile Tube are also known as, geobags, geocontainers, soil tubes, geosynthetic tubes, geotextile containers or desludging bags. They are made of high strength polypropylene woven geotextile that resists ultraviolet, environment rotting and damage, biological degradation. Dewatering tubes are inert to most naturally encountered chemicals, alkalis, and acids making them specializing in environmental remediation projects, wastewater lagoon, and cleaning pond projects, or any type of project that involves dealing with contaminated sediments, varies sludges and sewages.

 

Once filling the geotextile tube, insert pump hoses into ‘Sleeve’ which has sewed on the tube and fastened by ‘Tie Clip’. Surry fluids are then pumped into the geotextile tube until it is filled in max height. The liquid filters out, while the solids contained inside the geosynthetic tube.  Once completely drained of fluid and consolidate, the tube is usually cut open, and ‘dried sludge cake’ is removed with a loader and transported to a landfill or disposal site by a dump truck.

 

Our geotextile tube sizes can reach 36 meters in Circumferences and 100 meters in lengths, with fill volume 4000 cube meters. With GTVC software, custom sizes are welcome available.

Municipal Waste

The dewatering of municipal waste sludge was a early and mature application for geotextile dewatering bags. Most municipal sewage treatment plants store the generated sludge in ponds. 

Geotextile sludge dewatering tubes are used extensively for dewatering sludge from these containment ponds. The effluent water is normally back to the ponds, and solids disposed of elsewhere.

For the limited space available, many customers use small size geobag, which can put into ‘rectangle steel box’ and can be easy moved by truck. It is also called MDS dewatering system.

Mining Waste

The mining of minerals will produce various types of waste. Such as tailings, mineral fines and processing sludge.

Large mining activities produce big amounts of tailings, which are stored in open tailings dams in isolated locations. However, small mines produce small tailings, which are close to population or environmentally sensitive areas.

The management of these tailings or their remediation are necessary, because in many cases the tailings have to be dewatered first before they can be rendered stable and inert.

Contaminated Sediments

The contaminated sediments are always come from industrial effluent waste that settle into rivers, lakes, ponds and streams within timeby. They are such as: PCBs, PCPs, PAHs, lead, copper, zinc, arsenic and etc. These contaminants are harmful to humans, animals and aquatic lifes. Environmental dredging is the most common method of contaminated sediment remediation. The sediment is dredged and pumped into tube, transported after weeks or months consolidation.

Agricultural Animal Waste

Chicken, Cattle and Pig farms produce large amount of waste, which is commonly stored in retention ponds. Over time there ponds are filled with sludge, and they have to be cleaned out periodically use geosynthetic tubes. Animal waste is more fine than sewage waste, it normally has to be treated with coagulate and flocculate to ensure colloids and nutrients are contained within the geotextile bags for dredging during geotextile tubes dewatering.

Industrial Waste

Many industrial processes produce waste which is stored in waste ponds on the industrial site. Over time these ponds fill with waste sludge, and have to be cleaned to continue function.

A common method of these waste reclamation is to dewater the waste sludge from ponds and dispose of it in landfill or use it for other applications.

Food Processing

Food processing produces large quantities of slurry waste, which comes from manufacturing process such as Potato Processing(washing and skin waste), Cheese Processing, Wine Processing and etc.

Revetments

Geotextile tube(geobag) often filled with sand slurry for used as revetment structures. They are used for both submerged and exposed revetments. For submerged revetments the geotextile tube is always covered by local soil. For exposed revetments, the geotextile tube is exposed throughout it’s design life.

To prevent erosion of the foundation, the geotextile tube is always to install a scour apron, which is anchored by a small geotextile tube, we call it ‘anchor tube’. Revetments are also constructed using multiple geo tube layers. Here the geobags are stacked over to reach the required design heights. A common method of these waste reclamation is to dewater the waste sludge from ponds and dispose of it in landfill or use it for other applications.

Protection Dykes

Geotextile tube(geobag dewatering) are used for protection dykes, where they prevent flood and storm damage to valuable structures. They can also used for river, lake works.

 

When geotextile tube protection dykes are constructed, always it is covered by local soil. Thereby ensuring no damage caused by activities and long term sunlight exposure.

Once geotextile tubes are used for river or lake works, it is always leave the geobag exposed except for major structures, where rock armour layers may be placed over it to dissipate hydraulic forces.

Offshore Breakwaters

Geotextile tube(geobags) are used for offshore breakwaters to prevent the erosion behind shoreline developments. The geotextile tube is located at a certain distance from offshore in order to weak or eliminate wave energy before they can reach the shoreline.

Geotextile tube(geobags) as groynes, which to prevent shoreline movement of sediment. In most cases the geotextile tubes are left exposed, but coatings or a rock covering or concret matress may be applied, dependiing on the situation and required life span.
